2026 Fetal Ultrasound Review Course

This comprehensive fetal ultrasound course provides participants with evidence-based approaches for evaluating fetal cardiac anatomy, skeletal dysplasia, placental and cervical abnormalities, and fetal chest masses, with a focus on early detection, accurate diagnosis, and appropriate clinical management. Through expert-led lectures, live scanning demonstrations, and case-based discussions, attendees will enhance their ultrasound imaging skills, improve diagnostic confidence, and apply current best practices to both routine and high-risk obstetric examinations.

Audience: This activity is intended for sonographers, nurses, advanced practice providers, physicians and other allied health professionals involved in obstetric ultrasound imaging.

1. Describe best practice standards for evaluating fetal situs and the four chamber heart view to recognize common fetal cardiac anomalies.
2. Select ultrasound techniques to accurately assess cardiac situs and detect the most common fetal cardiac abnormalities.
3. List updated evaluation strategies into clinical practice to improve early recognition and management of fetal cardiac anomalies.
4. Outline best practice standards for evaluating normal and abnormal outflow tract and three vessel views, including the use of Color Doppler and systematic sweep techniques.
5. Choose evidence-based ultrasound methods such as Color Doppler optimization and sequential sweeps to accurately recognize abnormalities in outflow tract (OFT) and three-vessel and trachea (3VV/3VT) views.
6. Examine updated Doppler and sweep based evaluation strategies into routine fetal cardiac screening to improve early detection and management of outflow tract and three vessel abnormalities.
7. Perform systematic live scanning methods to accurately obtain and interpret key fetal anatomical views.
8. Apply real time scanning skills to improve efficiency, accuracy, and confidence during routine and high-risk obstetric ultrasound examinations.
9. Explain best practice standards for prenatal diagnosis of skeletal dysplasia using key ultrasound findings and screening indices.
10. Discuss evidence-based approaches to accurately diagnose and manage pregnancies with suspected skeletal dysplasia.
11. Illustrate updated diagnostic and management strategies in clinical practice to improve care for fetal skeletal dysplasia.
12. Identify and interpret ultrasound findings associated with major placental abnormalities (e.g., placenta previa, placenta accreta spectrum, abruption).
13. Assess maternal-fetal risk based on placental pathology and cervical length measurements and formulate evidence-based management plans.
14. Inform patients on the implications of placental abnormalities and short cervical length, and coordinate multidisciplinary care (e.g., anesthesia, neonatology, surgical teams) for pregnancies at risk of preterm-birth or hemorrhage.
15. Outline best practice standards for the prenatal diagnosis of fetal chest masses using ultrasound and relevant imaging criteria.
16. Employ evidence-based approaches to accurately evaluate and manage pregnancies complicated by suspected fetal chest masses.
17. Recognize when referral to Maternal Fetal Medicine or specialized evaluation is indicated to ensure timely diagnosis and appropriate perinatal planning.
18. Summarize best practice standards for evaluating the fetal heart and distinguishing normal cardiac anatomy from common congenital abnormalities.
19. Interpret systematic, evidence-based ultrasound techniques to accurately recognize and diagnose fetal heart abnormalities, including congenital heart disease.
20. Identify updated diagnostic approaches in clinical practice to improve early detection, referral, and management of pregnancies with suspected fetal cardiac anomalies.

Refund/Cancellation Policy

The registration fee, minus a $25 administrative fee, will be refunded if a cancellation is received (in writing or by phone) no later than noon on Friday, November 6, 2026. Refunds will not be given for failure to attend.  Substitutions may be made at any time (in writing or by phone) without an additional charge.  If this meeting is cancelled for any reason, including labor strikes or acts of nature, liability is limited to a full refund of registration fees.
