This CME activity offers a focused, interdisciplinary look at the rapidly evolving intersections of medical artificial intelligence, healthcare law, and interstate nursing practice. Participants will explore foundational and emerging AI technologies, their clinical and administrative applications, and the benefits and risks associated with integrating AI into patient care. The program also reviews recent developments in Ohio medical malpractice law, strategies for managing liability, and best practices for safe, ethical AI adoption. Additional discussions include a demonstration of AI enabled tools in the electronic medical record and an overview of the Nurse Licensure Compact highlighting its key provisions. This event equips legal and healthcare professionals with the essential knowledge needed to navigate the future of technology-enabled, legally sound, and collaborative healthcare delivery.

2. Explain how recent legal developments may impact liability and claims.
3. Outline best response to new legal developments.
4. Describe the AI principles that drive and make possible the application of technology to medicine.
5. Evaluate the level of risk with new clinical technology that relies on AI, by being able to better separate the hype from reality.
6. Analyze the implication for AI in healthcare as related to issues associated with overreliance on the technology and overlooking unintended consequences.
7. Describe key types of artificial intelligence and their current applications in medical and surgical practice.
8. Evaluate how artificial intelligence can enhance clinical and surgical workflows, including decision support, imaging, and robotic-assisted procedures.
9. Assess the limitations, risks, and legal considerations associated with the use of artificial intelligence in patient care.
10. Apply best practices for safely integrating artificial intelligence into clinical workflows while maintaining physician accountability.
11. Review the current and near-future AI tools available to clinical providers to support medical decision-making.
12. Review non-clinical AI tools utilized in healthcare administrative functions.
13. Demonstrate ambient dictation AI use in a patient encounter.
14. Compare the impact of healthcare AI on quality, safety, and the overall patient experience.
15. Describe key provisions of the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
16. Explain how NLC impacts interprofessional collaboration.
17. Apply NLC principles to practice scenarios.

 Refund/Cancellation Policy

The registration fee, minus a $25 administrative fee, will be refunded if a cancellation is received (in writing or by phone) no later than Tuesday, May 26, 2026. Refunds will not be given for failure to attend. Substitutions may be made at any time (in writing or by phone) without an additional charge. If this meeting is cancelled for any reason, including labor strikes or acts of nature, liability is limited to a full refund of registration fees.
