Overview
A public health response to the opioid crisis must focus on preventing new cases of opioid addiction, early identification of opioid addicted individuals, and ensuring access to affective opioid addiction treatment.


Objectives
  1. Highlight clinical recommendations when prescribing opioids.
  2. Address how to deal with compassion fatigue.
  3. Recognize warning signs of addiction in patients.
  4. Discuss long term goals of an addicted patient.
  5. Address the ever-evolving legal landscape on prescribing opiates.
  6. Define Regulatory Agency Activity when prescribing opioids.
  7. Clarify co-management opioid use in patients from physicians and advanced practice providers.
  8. Diagnose depression and anxiety in opioid use disorders.
  9. Describe treatments for depression and anxiety in opioid use disorders.
  10. Identify clinical and medical-legal challenges when treating patients with depression, anxiety, and opioid disorders.
  11. Recognize opioid dependency in a pregnant patient.
  12. Identify limitations and available treatments in pregnant patients who are dependent on opioids.
  13. Discuss follow-up care and what is next in MOUD treatment.
  14. Recognize problems in opioid use.
  15. Address problems in opioid use.
  16. Review resources for MOUD treatment.
  17. Collect insight from patients in active treatment of prevention.
  18. Describe typical course of treatment for MOUD.
  19. Explain the integration of MOUD and its therapies.
  20. Identify known genetic contributions to addiction vulnerability.
