Overview
This year's conference will provide updates on osteoporosis, immunizations, cardiovascular benefits of the SLGT2 inhibitors and GLP-1 analogs, nutritional supplementation and pharmacologic weight loss for bariatric surgical patients, skin and soft tissue infections, long acting reversible contraceptives, anticoagulants, medical marijuana and CBD, iron therapy, ketamine and hormone replacement therapy.

Objectives
  1. Discuss current guidelines for treatment of osteoporosis.
  2. Identify osteoporosis treatment guidelines.
  3. Review selection of appropriate treatment for patients.
  4. Discuss common circumstances that complicate routine vaccine administration in the office.
  5. Explain potential of influenza vaccine for preventing and ameliorating infection.
  6. Recognize how parental perspectives contribute to vaccine hesitancy.
  7. Cite new ADA 2019 guidelines.
  8. Review recent clinical trials on benefits of SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP-1 analogs.
  9. Discuss long term benefits and side effects of this class of drugs.
  10. Describe complications of diabetes.
  11. Identify nutritional supplementation for bariatric surgical patients, both before and after surgery.
  12. Explain pharmacologic options for obese patients, as an alternative to weight loss surgery.
  13. Discuss pharmacologic options for patients that gain weight, years after weight loss surgery.
  14. Assess appropriateness of antimicrobial therapy for treatment of cellulitis.
  15. Evaluate role of vancomycin in treatment of cellulitis.
  16. List factors for developing either type I or type II necrotizing fasciitis.
  17. Describe role of clindamycin in treatment of necrotizing fasciitis caused by group A strep.
  18. Review various options of long-acting reversible contraceptives.
  19. Discuss evidence based risks, benefits, indications, contraindications for long-acting reversible contraceptives.
  20. Review shortcomings of 'traditional' anticoagulant therapy with vitamin K antagomism.
